Cuyamaca College seeks talented and dedicated candidates for a faculty position in the Social Work program. Candidates should share our strategic vision focused on student success, social justice, equity, and anti‑racism. We especially encourage applicants with high cultural competence who have successfully taught and mentored students from a variety of backgrounds.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESFaculty will collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to advance the College’s mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities include:
- Improve the Social Work program and create curriculum that meets community college philosophy.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs and activities that support learning and the college curriculum.
- Participate in campus and district professional activities, including committee membership, staff development, and collegial meetings.
- Perform duties consistent with the faculty job description and contract.
- Applicant must meet one of the following criteria:
- Master’s in Sociology
- Bachelor’s in Sociology AND Master’s in Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, or Psychology
- The equivalent (please complete Equivalency Determination Form)
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students, including those who are differently abled and various gender and sexual identities.
- Experience teaching a comprehensive Social Work curriculum.
- Ability to design curricula responsive to the needs and interests of historically underrepresented students.
- Ability to teach effectively using multimodal approaches (online, in‑person, hybrid) and equity‑minded, student‑centered practices.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in Social Work.
- Collaboration with faculty and community leaders on initiatives such as Puente and Umoja.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Active participation in college community events, governance, and committees.
- Manage student internship placements and maintain relationships with internship sites.
- Contribute to the mission and strategic plan of the college.
- Lead growth and development of the Social Work program, including grant management.
- Experience or willingness to teach online or hybrid classes in addition to in‑person courses.
