Yard Associate

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Technician to inspect, maintain, and prepare heavy-duty trench safety equipment. This role is essential to ensuring all equipment meets strict safety and operational standards before being deployed to job sites. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an outdoor, physically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Yard Operations & Maintenance:

• Equipment Inspection: Conduct visual inspections of returned equipment to identify structural damage, stress cracks, or missing components (pins, spreaders, etc.).
• Maintenance & Repair: Perform basic repairs and refurbishment using hand and power tools, including pressure washing and painting equipment.
• Inventory Management: Organize, track, and stage equipment for upcoming deliveries; assist with routine inventory counts of steel shields and hydraulic components.
• Yard Organization: Maintain an orderly yard to ensure efficient workflow and equipment accessibility.
• Safety Compliance: Keep the yard clean and hazard-free while adhering to all OSHA and company safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to lift 50–65 lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Experience operating a forklift.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety.
• Familiarity with trenching and shoring safety standards (e.g., “competent person” awareness preferred).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

• Must wear steel toe boots and jeans at all times while on duty.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in construction, equipment yard operations, or a related field is a plus.
