The Opportunity

The City of El Cajon is searching for a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic professional to plan, organize and coordinate comprehensive recreational and leisure services programs in the Parks and Recreation Department. While not required, experience in aquatics operations and programs is desired.

The Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of youth sports programming and special events throughout the year. Six recreation and community centers offer a wide range of activities and amenities designed for all ages. The most highly qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process which includes an in-person Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Parks and Recreation Supervisor

At least two years professional experience in the recreation services field such as facility management, a specific area of instructional specialization, planning, scheduling, and event coordination in a comprehensive recreation program. Experience directing recreation staff.

Educational achievement equivalent to a four-year college degree in recreation or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for year basis. Additionally, candidate must obtain a four-year college degree equivalent within three years of appointment.

• Ability to obtain a CPR and advanced First Aid certificate;
• ability to obtain a water safety instructor's certificate and lifeguard training if assigned to the aquatics program;
• possession of a valid class C California driver's license with a safe driving record. The employee may be required to drive personal vehicle or arrange transportation between worksites.
