The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will architect, secure, manage, and optimize the Oracle Exadata environment—both on-premises and in the cloud. The Senior Oracle Exadata Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for the mission‑critical databases, and for implementing robust security controls and compliance standards across the Exadata and OCI deployments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Administer, secure, and maintain Oracle Exadata systems—covering storage cells, compute nodes, and Infini Band networks—across on‑premises and OCI environments.
  • Design and implement advanced security measures for Exadata and Oracle Cloud database environments, including encryption, access controls, auditing, and vulnerability management.
  • Perform end‑to‑end installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of Exadata software, firmware, and OCI resources while ensuring minimal downtime and maximum security.
  • Continuously monitor system performance, proactively identify and resolve issues, and tune databases for optimal operation and security posture.
  • Develop, test, and manage comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, Oracle Data Guard, and OCI‑native tools, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to support and secure database‑related needs, including role‑based access and compliance initiatives.
  • Automate routine administration and security tasks using scripting languages (Shell, Python, etc.) to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises, with a focus on secure architecture and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide 24x7 production support as required, including on‑call rotation and incident response for both performance and security events.

This role has no supervisory duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Exadata, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications preferred.

Required Knowledge: Background in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and advanced security practices preferred.

Experience

Required:

5+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration with a proven track record of managing and securing Exadata systems.

3+ years of hands‑on experience with Oracle Exadata, including administration, security, and performance tuning.

Extensive experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Grid Infrastructure, and Exadata patching.

Strong knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWR, ADDM, and security auditing tools.

Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration and scripting for automation and security hardening.

Demonstrated experience in securing database environments, implementing encryption, and managing database compliance and auditing.

Solid background in deploying and managing Exadata solutions in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including security best practices in cloud environments.

Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Skills/Abilities:

Experience with Exadata Cloud@Customer and advanced OCI security features (such as Identity and Access Management, network security, and cloud‑native monitoring).

Familiarity with ITIL processes, change management, and security frameworks (e.g., ISO, NIST).

Must be able to be on a on‑call rotation and occasional weekend work for maintenance, upgrades, and incident responses.

Hybrid work model‑primarily remote with some onsite requirements as needed.
