Small Engine Mechanic Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and related equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and dependable performance. The ideal candidate has mechanical experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality service.

Responsibilities:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engines, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, ATVs, pressure washers, and other related equipment.

Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, blade sharpening, filter replacements, and spark plug checks.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues.

Order and install replacement parts as needed.

Maintain accurate service records, including repairs, parts used, and work performed.

Ensure shop tools, equipment, and work areas are clean, organized, and safe.

Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs, estimated costs, and maintenance recommendations.

Follow all safety guidelines and company policies.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic, Automotive Technician, or similar role.

Strong knowledge of small engine repair, including 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines.

Ability to read manuals, technical documents, and wiring diagrams.

Proficient in using diagnostic and repair tools.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in small engine repair or mechanics (not required but a plus).

Experience with welding or fabrication.

Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Work in varying conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments.

Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
