Job Title

Sr. Project Lead - El Dorado, KS (S&B)

Overview

S&B is currently seeking a Sr. Project Lead to join our team. The position typically carries the functional title of Area Project Lead and has responsibility for the engineering design of multiple areas or process unit(s) on a project. Reports to a Project Manager and coordinates all design engineering disciplines for a particular work area. Must be fully competent in the use of the S&B Project Management Manual.

Supervisory

Responsibilities

The Project Lead III is responsible for the overall quality and timeliness of the work from all discipline personnel assigned to the area or project, and the coordination of the discipline leads. Also may be responsible for personnel in engineering support groups charged with tracking cost, progress, and schedule.

Education

Normally requires a four‑year BS degree in engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

Requires a minimum of nine (9) years total experience, four (4) in one or more discipline areas or in an engineering support role, and five (5) years as a Project Lead I or II. Equivalent working knowledge and experience may substitute for work in a discipline. Must have working knowledge of the various software packages and automated engineering and reporting systems used at S&B.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in proposal development and presentations to potential clients.
  • Develop well‑defined overall project scope of work.
  • Assist in development of estimates of cost for engineering.
  • Participate in progress reporting to the client, oral and written.
  • Communicate with the client and other groups and departments working on the project.
  • Approve all P&IDs revised or created for the project.
  • Approve all new or revised drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Ensure accuracy of discipline audits and review deviations.
  • Participate in development and analysis of quantity‑based trending.
  • Approve all inquiries and requisitions for procured items, including bulk materials.
  • Participate in constructibility reviews and construction planning.
  • Initiate project change orders whenever changes to scope affect the budget or schedule.
  • Promote good work habits and attitudes within the various disciplines.
  • Coordinate project close‑out and completion of archival documentation requirements.
Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and standards, and governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers, and engineers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Demands

Occasionally conduct or participate in field trips to existing plants, requiring standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and balancing. Lifting of 25 pounds may be required. Requires clear close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

Work Environment

Normal work environment is a business office with moderate noise. Field trips may expose workers to outdoor weather, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and airborne particles.
