Your exact starting rate will fall within the posted range and will reflect where you are placed in the step-guidance system.

We have an authorized force of 26 sworn officers and we want you to join our team.
Serves as a liaison officer to the community assuring for the best public relations for the City and that all laws and regulations are followed.
Patrol Related ActivitiesMeets with previous shift members when reporting to duty and receives updated information and assignments assuring for professionalism.
Patrols assigned areas and monitors activities within the assigned beat maintaining an awareness of potential problems and suspicious activity.
Conducts traffic and parking enforcement.
CallsResponds appropriately and notifies dispatcher of arrival on scene. Takes appropriate enforcement or control action as required assuring that department procedures are followed and assuring for the safety of civilians and responding officers.
Completes investigation, makes determination regarding enforcement action required, processes the scene and completes reports and documentation as required assuring for timeliness and accuracy.
Conducts and completes any required follow up activities including collection of evidence and interviewing of witnesses/suspects assuring proper procedures are followed.
Provides back-up coverage to responding officer when incidents are dispatched.
Community PolicingEstablishes and maintains communication by the frequent use of personal contact with the community.
Represents the department in continual interaction with various other social service agencies to combine all resources assuring for the best community service.
Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Valid Kansas Driver's License
Ability to obtain State of Kansas patrol officer certification through Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.
Within 6 months of hire, must live within 30 minutes of corporate city limits
Any or all requirements may be waived at the discretion of the City Manager, Police Chief, or designee.
Minimum QualificationsProstitution, Promoting prostitution, Indecent exposure, Sale of marijuana, narcotics, or non-narcotic drugs, Incest, Commercial gambling.
