Responsibilities- Verify patients’ identity and physician order prior to start of examination.
- Administer oral and IV contrast media as required for the requested examination.
- Perform CT scans accurately according to established procedures and the radiologist’s special instructions.
- Complete machine warm-up and shut-down procedures.
- Assist all other techs in related job duties.
- Perform routine radiology exams when not performing CT exams.
- Maintain accurate and complete records, including CT scan logs and daily worksheets, and capture all information on designated screens in the hospital MEDITECH computer system.
- Bring previous exams forward for comparison by radiologist and pass images to reading room for interpretation.
- Obtain pertinent physical history on all patients/exams.
- Practice radiation safety by following federal, state, and hospital policies.
- Maintain a clear and orderly work area and keep a needed stock of supplies available.
- Demonstrate good guest relation skills while dealing with patients, families, physicians, and other hospital and department staff.
- Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures when not occupied in CT.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to manager and/or call repair technicians when needed.
- File and maintain records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality while following established hospital policy regarding confidentiality issues.
- Update orders in Meditech.
- Assist with teaching radiology students assigned to SBAMH as a clinical training site.
- Perform IV sticks as needed.
- Attend at least 75% of department meetings.
- Attend all mandatory meetings as established by the hospital.
- Maintain required CEU level as established by the ARRT for annual certification status.
- Verify all post-processing is performed and sent to PACS.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
