We have one (1) vacancy in the Machinist Apprentice classification. The vacancies will be filled based upon plant seniority and qualifications of those submitting applications. Job Duties- Supports the refinery safety process and maintains on the job safety vigilance
- Works 8 hour shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Responds to callouts and holdovers
- Reviews daily work orders
- Checks instruments, records rounds in PM schedule, checks equipment and assures that the operation and equipment conform to operating requirements
- Fires furnaces, operates pumps, sets lines and manifolds, changes blinds and jump-overs, operates compressors, gauges tanks, draws samples, runs control tests, sends samples to the Lab, adjusts chemical injection rates, zeroes meters, changes tests alarms.
- Repairs equipment as required and within ability to accomplish repairs safely
- Performs other work, such as lubricating equipment, cleanup and housekeeping
- Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Successful completion of a formal program in the field of millwright, pump mechanic, machinist or other relevant skills through military service, a crafts apprenticeship program or VoTech school. Significant relevant experience can be considered as an acceptable alternate.
High School diploma or GED.
Required SkillsWorking beyond regular working hours as necessary. Responding favorably to call outs at night or on weekends. Extended 12-hour shift schedules, etc.
Work ConditionsOutdoors environment based. Petroleum refinery, plant environment, including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, and tanks, rotating equipment, and working in confined spaces. Able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be available to work a flexible schedule (e.g. overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts).

Physical RequirementsJob conditions may require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing over 100ft, and operating and driving all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates. A valid state driver's license and proof of insurance are required, as well as wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted) and performing strenuous physical activity.
