Summary:
Tutor students in the AVID elective class. Facilitate student access to a rigorous curriculum and serve as a role model.
- Provide positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Serve as a role model/mentor to AVID students.
- Follow the guidelines set forth by the teacher and AVID.
- Facilitate the tutorial learning process.
- Learn and implement AVID methodologies.
- Actively participate in collaboration groups and tutorials.
- Assist students in maintaining their AVID binders.
- Learn specific routines and expectations of each AVID teacher's classroom.
- Consult frequently with the teacher about the needs, suggestions, questions, problems, and progress of the students.
- Assist the teacher in evaluating the progress/learning of students.
- Adhere to all district/site policies and procedures.
- Assist teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and control.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Participate in and complete the required tutor training.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
- Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
- Writing and speaking effectively with others.
- Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
- Filing and record-keeping principles.
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
- Customer service principles.
- Modern office technology.
- Maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
