Children’s Eye Health Center of El Paso is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner with pediatric experience to join our growing Pediatric Ophthalmology practice.
This is a fully compensated clinical NP position with a structured onboarding and subspecialty training pathway designed for early-career Nurse Practitioners who are interested in developing expertise in Pediatric Ophthalmology , a rare and rewarding specialty.
You will work in a child-focused clinic environment and receive close mentorship from a fellowship-trained Pediatric Ophthalmologist , while progressively expanding your clinical skills and scope of responsibility in accordance with Texas NP regulations.
Ideal Candidate- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (or eligible for Texas licensure)
- Experience or strong interest in pediatrics
- Compassionate, patient-centered, and family-focused
- Eager to learn a highly specialized clinical field
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment
- Conduct pediatric eye examinations including visual acuity testing, refraction, and age-appropriate diagnostic assessments
- Assist in the diagnosis and management of conditions such as amblyopia, strabismus, refractive errors, and congenital eye disorders under physician supervision
- Participate in treatment planning, including prescribing therapies (e.g., eye drops, eyeglasses, patching) as permitted by scope of practice
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care
- Assist with minor in-office procedures (e.g., foreign body removal, tear duct probing) as training progresses
- Educate patients and families using age-appropriate communication strategies
- Collaborate with Pediatric Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, and clinical staff
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (EHR); scribe support provided
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and community vision screening programs
- Engage in ongoing education through didactic sessions, workshops, and clinical training
- Participate in supervised call responsibilities consistent with Texas NP scope-of-practice guidelines
- Structured subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology
