POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking an applied mathematician/statistician, specialized in computational sciences, preferably with expertise in machine learning and/or high performance computing, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs and will be required to mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to direct Ph.D. dissertations in computational science.

Anticipated appointment date is fall 2019.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a highly productive department at UTEP and contributes to interdisciplinary programs across the university, including the Computational Science Program. Over the past few years its faculty members have published numerous peer reviewed manuscripts and helped secure millions of dollars in grants. Existing faculty expertise includes algebra and combinatorics, fixed point theory, statistics, bioinformatics, computational science, topology and applied mathematics.

In the last six years, UTEP has been ranked in the top ten by Diverse:
