Position: Dean of Students and Student Affairs Special Projects (Current EPCC Employees Only)

provide leadership, strategic direction, regulatory compliance, operational management, and budget oversight for the areas, including student code of conduct and discipline, title ix, title vi, clery act, and americans with disabilities act (ada), student leadership and campus life, new student orientation, tejano mercado student government, and special projects to the vice president of student and enrollment services. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Develop and promote an interdisciplinary team approach in collaboration with the instructional division, focusing on improving student success, access, retention, and completion. Collaborate with the district clinical counseling team to support el paso community college’s (epcc’s) behavioral intervention team to ensure a safe, supportive learning and working environment. Administer and enforce the student code of conduct and disciplinary procedures, including conducting investigations, determining student outcomes, and rendering decisions.

Ensure that student rights and due process are upheld in accordance with college policies and procedures in all disciplinary matters. Oversee enforcement of policies and procedures, including title ix, title vi, and the ada, and ensure compliance with regulations from the southern association of college and schools commission on colleges, texas higher education coordinating board, united states department of education, the texas legislature, and other local, state, and federal regulatory institutions.

Serve as the subject matter expert on student discipline and student complaints for instruction and other departments. Direct a multi-campus, district-wide department responsible for providing a comprehensive student leadership and campus life strategic plan to meet the needs of the entire student population. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate services’ effectiveness and provide reports that support a continued focus on student success.

Support the implementation of strategic initiatives and new technologies to enhance the delivery of services and improve student outcomes. Lead district-wide or campus projects, processes, and grants as assigned. Serve as the special projects lead for the vice president of student and enrollment services, including serving as the co-chair for the behavioral intervention team. Provide direct student services as needed, including consumer information, ombudsman support, and behavioral intervention.

Collaborate with the instructional division and other college divisions to ensure services meet student needs and reflect a commitment to student success, innovation, and collaboration. Direct supervision of full and part-time support staff and student staff, including performance evaluation, coaching, and personal and professional development. Develop and manage the departmental budgets.

required qualifications: 1. Master’s degree in education, administration, or a directly related field and six (6) years of experience in college teaching, instructional administration, program planning and development, planning and budgeting in an academic environment, or a similarly related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

2. Working knowledge of accreditation standards as they relate to student life, support services, and student success.
