Position InformationHiring Department: Military Services

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday‑Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm, flexibility required on evenings and weekends. Office hours at Fort Bliss for 2‑3 days a week (discretion of department head).

Purpose of PositionUnder the general supervision of the Director (department head), serves as the Military Student Success Centers (MSSC) representation at Fort Bliss military installation by providing DOD Federal & state Tuition Assistance in addition to VA educational benefit assistance to members of the various branches of active‑duty service members, veterans, and their dependents through close adherence to stated policies, procedures and regulations of the Department of Defense, Department of Veteran Affairs, federal/state government, and University.
This position requires extreme attention to detail, exceptional problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Act as a liaison from the UTEP Military Student Success Center at the Fort Bliss military installation.
- Conduct active‑duty unit briefs at the discretion of the Fort Bliss education office.
- Attend meetings and functions put forth by the Fort Bliss education office.
- Attend all Fort Bliss Transition Assistance Program (TAP) weekly career fairs.
- Serve as one of the points of contact for all activities that UTEP might conduct on the Fort Bliss military installation.
- Assist active duty/veterans/dependents in the VA benefit application process and DoD Tuition Assistance programs.
- Process TA vouchers in addition to VA education benefits. Ensure necessary documents are submitted, calculate tuition and fees, and perform data entry via UTEP centric systems such as Perceptive Content, Banner, Goldmine, and Federal systems such as VA Enrollment Manager (EM), DoD tuition assistance portals.
- Process various internal TA/VA reports, submit updates to enrollment certifications and grades.
- Resolve problems regarding TA/VA eligibility and payment of TA/VA benefits.
- Maintain knowledge of various benefits, TA/VA legislation changes, services available and regulations governing their administration.
- Assist with processing VA educational benefits for over 1,500+ students.
- Process incoming VA debt letters in collaboration with Student Business Services.
- Answer questions in person, over the telephone, and e‑mail regarding MSSC and TA/VA related inquiries, program policies, practices, and operations.
