Scope of Job

The Department of Communication at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley invites applications for an Associate Professor of Health, Risk, and Environmental Communication with tenure beginning in the  academic year. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda in one or more of these areas and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in health communication, risk communication, environmental communication, or related areas.

Additional teaching may include healthcare provider communication, crisis and disaster communication, interpersonal or family communication, communication campaigns, contemporary issues in communication, or communication research methods. The candidate will contribute to curriculum development; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; supervise master’s theses and professional projects; pursue opportunities for interdisciplinary and community-engaged research; and provide service to the department, college, university, discipline, and community.

The selected candidate will actively contribute to the programmatic and disciplinary leadership of the graduate MA program in Communication.
