Cobb Fendley is seeking an experienced Geospatial Field Technician in our El Paso, Texas office.

Requirements EDUCATION, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION //
  • High school diploma, GED, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
EXPERIENCE + KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITY (KSA)

Proficient // Solid understanding and practical experience; capable of working independently with growing efficiency. 7+ years of Field experience.

  • Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings.
  • Skills include use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES //

Ultimately, the Field Technician is responsible for the success of field operations to support project completion.

  • General //
    • Perform routine assignments with or without supervision.
    • Provide guidance to less experienced staff.
    • Coordinate with project managers and internal teams.
    • Responsible for safely operating equipment.
    • Travel locally and out of state, including overnights.
    • May operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, as needed to support specific operational tasks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use.
    • May cross train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE).
    2. Safety + Compliance //
    • Perform hazard analysis before performing field work and prepare safety documents under supervision.
    • Comply with all safety procedures:
      Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and Project Safety Plans (PSP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures.
    • Observe and follow QA/QC processes with and without supervision.
    • Identifying and evaluating potential hazards in the work environment.
    • Properly selecting and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Understanding of Traffic Control Plans (TCP).
    • Be familiar with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing projects in their respective field.
    3. Technical //
    • Assist Survey Party Chief with data collection and construction staking based on site elevations.
    • Take the lead on construction staking tasks, including hammering iron rods, wood lathes, and hubs.
    • Support boundary and topographical surveys, including clearing brush and digging holes.
    • Independently operate survey equipment, including positioning prism poles and setting up back sights.
    • Perform daily inventory checks and manage restocking of supplies for upcoming projects.
    • Open manholes in accordance with safety procedures.
