Senior Mechanical Engineer – AFG will take full responsibility for complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities across the country. This role is key to supporting major projects in Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor sectors.
Role SummaryThe M/E Engineer 3 will independently manage increasingly complex construction actions, collect and assemble data, develop estimates, and conduct systems and bid analysis. All activities support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.
Key Role Responsibilities – Core- Learn and actively participate in the company’s safety and quality plans, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment.
- Complete entry level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary M/E estimates using program and schematic design information and an automated estimating system.
- Review mechanical and electrical options during pre‑construction, completing systems analysis for selected projects.
- Assist in defining the mechanical and electrical scopes of work for the bid process.
- Assist in completing bid analysis and advising during subcontractor selection.
- Develop sequencing requirements of various systems and provide solutions to meet schedule requirements.
- Identify potential quality problems through design review to support constructability reports.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
- Assist with shop drawing and submittal processes to comply with contract documents.
- Support commissioning, develop pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and verify functional testing.
- Lead, support, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion in line with JE Dunn’s policy of non‑discrimination.
- Complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information.
- Review mechanical and electrical options, perform systems analysis, recommend best systems, and provide value‑engineering suggestions.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes during the bid process.
- Develop sequencing requirements of various systems and provide scheduling input during projects.
- Review design documents and identify potential quality problems to aid in quality control programs.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met with quality.
- Develop pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verify contractor’s performance of functional tests.
- Review and approve shop drawings before submission to the design team.
- Generate and issue the Commissioning Plan for approval.
- Verify deficiencies are corrected, and submit commissioning documentation to owners.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced co‑workers.
- Create M/E tools and innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and work products.
- Lead, support, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion in line with JE Dunn’s policy of non‑discrimination.
- Deliver accurate and timely work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.
- Knowledge of construction management methods.
- Capability to build relationships and collaborate within a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering or related field (Required).
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of construction and/or engineering experience.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
