Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or related field and ten (10) years of experience in law enforcement. Candidates must demonstrate specialized experience working in gang-related investigations, working with multiple levels and multiple jurisdictions of law enforcement (federal/state/local) organizations, and experience in serving in a collaborative role and facilitating law enforcement professionals towards a common goal.

Special Requirements

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:
Felony convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor convictions, an open arrest warrant for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions.

Responsibilities

Under direction, serve at a multi-agency environment consisting of co-located state, local and federal law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, currently funded, in part, by a grant from the Criminal Justice Division (CJD) of the Texas Governor's Office.

Act in consent of the TAG Executive Advisory Board. Involves:

  • Advising the TAG Executive Advisory Board and Project Director in matters relating to strategic planning, policy, and performance indicators relating to the TAG grant.
  • Coordinate communications between the TAG agencies, serve as the TAG Center's primary liaison to the grant's Project Director (the EPPD) in administering the grant, which includes reporting metrics and applying for additional grants as the TAG continues to operate.
  • Work in conjunction with the Project Director;
    Ensure grant funds are properly expended and recorded.
  • Facilitate and promote interagency communication among partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on interagency projects.
  • Identify future funding sources to support the TAG facility's operational costs.
  • Assist the Project Director in applying for future grants and other funding sources.

Ensure compliance with grant mandates and policies. Involves:

  • Work in conjunction with partners and stakeholders regarding the sharing of intelligence, trends, and threats.
  • Facilitate regular meetings at the TAG facility to include, but not limited to, TAG Executive Advisory Board, working group meetings, supervisor's meetings, and intelligence meetings.
  • Coordinate the collection of monthly enforcement statistics, the preparation of quarterly enforcement reports, and other reports as necessary to provide grantors with the required data for evaluation of current and future grants or funding assistance.

Assist in the procurement of equipment, supplies, and services in compliance with the City of El Paso (EPPD) procurement rules and applicable grant rules. Involves:

  • Receive, track, and issue equipment and supplies.
  • Account for equipment and supplies purchased with grant funds.
  • Assist in budgeting for the project.
  • Conduct limited network patch connections to facilitate data and phone connectivity at the TAG facility in the IT room.
  • Ensure staff have data and telephone connectivity at all times.
  • Represent the TAG facility in local, regional, and national forums as directed by the TAG Executive Advisory Board.
  • Oversee the TAG facility and is the primary contact with building management/landlord, contractors, and vendors to ensure an efficient, safe, and healthy office environment.
  • Act as the facilities superintendent; addresses and corrects facilities issues as they arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the TAG Executive Advisory Board, Project Director, and/or their designees.
