• Performs Assessments and Re-assessments:
  Assessment of patient is completed according to unit policy and professional standards of care. Collects appropriate and accurate subjective and objective data. Performs an accurate evaluation, formulates appropriate assessment/re-assessment, treatment plan of care, and goals individualized to the patient. Re-assesses per department policy and documents actions. Identifies and documents potential discharge needs.
• Treats Patients:
  Selects and applies appropriate speech therapy techniques, procedures, exercises and modalities based on current standards of clinical practice. Uses rehab equipment safely and effectively. Modifies the treatment program as needed to maximize patient progress.
• Documentation:
  Completes documentation on the same day that treatment was rendered and on all appropriate forms. Documentation is accurate and meets professional standards.
• Supervision:
  Directs the activities of technicians, students and volunteers as appropriate.
• Interdisciplinary Interactions:
  Communicates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient status, discharge plans, equipment needs, and recommendations.
• Demonstrates Customer Service/Service Plus principles in line with Del Sol Medical Center vision and values.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Certificate of Clinical Competency OR Clinical Fellowship Year by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
• Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology
• BCLS

• MS/MA in Speech Pathology
• Preferred 1-2 years’ experience

• Knowledge of evaluation of patients with speech, language or dysphagia disorders, especially with a geriatric emphasis.
• Knowledge of speech therapy principles and practices; oral and pharyngeal.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the muscular and nervous systems and anatomy/physiology; understanding disease and post-surgery conditions affecting speech, language and swallowing.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work with and motivate handicapped persons to comply with therapy programs.
• Ability to visualize anatomical structures and take remedial action as needed.
• Ability to form conclusions from therapy progress based on measurable criteria.
• Skill in operating department modalities.
• bilingual in English/Spanish
