• Provides administrative support to staff in the absence of the Manager and/or Director or designee.
• Collaborates with all disciplines in the coordination of quality patient care.
• Facilitates patient placement and timely patient throughput to the appropriate care setting.
• Works collaboratively with Unit Shift Managers providing guidance and direction in daily operations.
• Adheres to and supports hospital and department policies and acts as a resource for staff.
• Identifies and intervenes with Human Resource issues. Communicates these issues to the appropriate Director/AOC.
• Participates in disciplinary action of staff, as warranted.
• Assists at month’s end to assure all renewals of licensures/certifications are completed.
• Collaborates with staff to ensure schedules meet Unit needs and to minimize the use of agency personnel.
• Reviews appropriateness of the use of specialty beds for prevention of falls and pressure ulcers.
• Rounds in patient rooms assuring the completion of whiteboards as a means to engage patients and improve inpatient satisfaction.

Education:

• Required:
  
  Academic degree in nursing.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing or related field (health administration, business, public health, or management).

Experience:

• Required:
  
  2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.

Certifications:

• Required:
  
  Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice the profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
• AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
