Job Summary

The Clinical Research Assistant plays a key role in supporting the conduct of clinical trial activities in accordance with applicable regulations. This role involves administrative duties, data management, patient interaction, specimen collection and handling, phlebotomy, ECGs, vital signs, and laboratory procedures to ensure study objectives and corporate goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment and infection control procedures.
  • Perform specimen collections including venipuncture for pediatric and adult participants.
  • Process specimens in the laboratory, including transport, handling, requisition entry, inventory accountability, and review lab results for PI review.
  • Conduct CLIA‑waived testing: urine pregnancy test, urine dipstick, urine drug screen, alcohol testing, Rapid Antigen Testing.
  • Ensure specimen collection, processing and shipping are protocol compliant.
  • Assist with screening, recruiting, enrollment and informed consent of research subjects.
  • Collect participant history and perform data entry in accordance with GCP.
  • Coordinate follow‑up care and laboratory procedures.
  • Support study documentation, reports, and ordering of study supplies.
  • Perform vital signs, ECG, spirometry and other procedure related follow‑up care.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with investigators, staff and the study team.
  • Adhere to IRB‑approved protocol, sponsor and clinic policies, SOPs and guidelines.
  • Support the safety of research subjects and comply with safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience with Athena EMR preferred.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers and study staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to recognize and synthesize information and operate independently with minimal daily direction.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
  • Aptitude to work effectively and positively with a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software (MS Office).
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical research or a patient‑facing clinical setting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Certification in phlebotomy, ECGs or similar clinical skills preferred.
