Project Controls Manager

The Project Controls Manager collaborates with business units to ensure SMS policies and standard operating procedures are understood and implemented on all projects. The role measures and analyzes project performance metrics to mitigate risk and ensures relentless execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate compliance auditing of project‑related governance required by the SMS and Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Drive Lean principles and practices throughout the organization.
  • Evaluate and propose updates to SMS workflows, forms, templates, and system manuals.
  • Identify areas of excellence for best practices and lessons learned with potential for broader implementation.
  • Measure presence and functionality of project use of system software (Prolog, JDE, Textura, etc.).
  • Optimize utilization of VDC company wide to improve parametric estimating, budgeting & scheduling results.
  • Participate in business unit project status reporting (MPR & ELPR), including actionable measures for improvement.
  • Develop data analytics and reporting formats to streamline auditing of SMS policy and procedures.
  • Perform analytical review and measurement of project performance metrics and trends.
  • Support development and implementation of recovery plans for critical project management performance deficiencies.
  • Ensure uniform and comprehensive implementation of SMS policy and procedure.
  • Collaborate with business units to maintain Project Management Plans required by the SMS.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Finance/Accounting preferred.
  • Experience with large complex construction projects ($>50MM).
  • Knowledge and experience in construction operations within Building, Transportation, and/or Industrial markets.
  • Experience with enterprise‑based scheduling software (P6 preferred).
  • Knowledge of SMS and Sundt operations procedures.
  • Minimum 7‑10 years relevant construction experience required; 3‑5 years with Sundt preferred.
  • Proficiency in interpreting contract agreements, cost forecasting, risk identification, and change management.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs and Prolog.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Wear personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
  • Use electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate.
  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects frequently.
  • Interact with people frequently during a shift/work day.
  • Lift, push, or pull objects occasionally.
  • Stand or walk short distances for up to the entire shift duration.
