Machinist A – Caseem

Position Summary

The Manual Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of manual machining equipment to fabricate, repair, and modify metal parts and components. This role requires strong technical skills, precision, and the ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine machining operations, tolerances, and dimensions.
  • Fabricate, repair, and modify parts for equipment, machinery, and production needs.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Select appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials and machining processes.
  • Maintain accuracy, quality, and efficiency during machining tasks.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide machining solutions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on machine shop equipment.
  • Uphold safety, housekeeping, and operational standards, including compliance with 5S principles.
  • Document work performed, maintain machining records, and track parts inventory as required.
  • Follow company safety procedures, including use of PPE and adherence to lockout‑tagout (LOTO) protocols.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certificate or trade school training preferred.
  • 3‑5 years of experience in manual machining in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manual lathes, mills, grinders, and machining processes.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Willingness to work overtime or off‑shift hours when needed.
