Zachry is currently seeking an experienced Quality Coatings Inspector for our Golden Pass LNG project located in Sabine Pass, TX. The Industrial Lead Coatings Inspector will work with Piping and be responsible for painting and coating inspection. The Coating Inspector will perform field inspection (Quality Control) of coating and painting as well as internal lining/coating. Additionally, the inspector shall conduct shop inspections of coating, painting, and internal lining/coating and should possess basic knowledge of coating materials and surface preparation techniques.
ResponsibilitiesThe Coating Inspector will:
- Perform field inspection of all coatings and paint jobs to ensure quality control.
- Inspect internal lining/coating work on site.
- Conduct shop inspections of coating, painting, and internal lining/coating.
- Maintain accurate records and files regarding coatings and painting activities.
- Must be able to read and write legibly.
- Must be organized and able to maintain coatings/painting files.
- Must have 2–4 years of experience.
- Must be self‑motivated and able to work with little to no supervision.
- Must be able to work in the elements, including heat.
- Must be able to work extended hours beyond normal worksite hours and any additional overtime with little to no prior notification.
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee, former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- 2–3 years’ experience on an industrial construction project.
- Previous experience in this position.
- Knowledge of painting and coating processes and familiarity with the types of coatings used in different systems.
- Welding experience.
- Adherence to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
- Good hearing and speech for communication.
- Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work in ditches, at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off platforms and man lifts, and occasionally work on an open structure using appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.
