Quality Inspector (Monday to Thursday) - El Paso PDCA

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Quality Inspector (Monday to Thursday) - El Paso PDCA.

The hourly rate for this position is $19.76 per hour. The regularly scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:15 am – 5:00 pm.

This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You’ll Do

Eaton’s PDCA Power Distribution Control Assembly division in El Paso is seeking a Quality Inspector. The Quality Inspector will verify correct wiring, components, program controllers, and conduct electrical testing of switchboard products and components, as required, per applicable test procedure and/or component literature with the overall goal of timely order fulfillment and adherence to Eaton’s quality standards.

Essential Functions
  • Inspect Hi‑Pot switchboard products on all lines according to inspection work instructions and applicable governmental requirements to confirm proper function of switchboards and electrical components, identify non‑conformances, and ensure compliance with customer specifications, safety, and quality requirements. Document inspections on the applicable checklist.
  • Use Hi‑Pot, continuity test, and component‑specific testing devices to perform electrical testing. Verify switches and circuit breakers function properly. Verify torqued connections using a torque wrench per inspection instructions. Conduct electrical and mechanical tests per safety and training requirements and procedures.
  • Examine and verify mating structures (all structures in a line‑up) as necessary to ensure that the job is complete and field installation is problem‑free (e.g., splice plate dimensions, Kirk key coordination).
  • Verify that any revisions released to the production floor regarding functionality and customer specifications are incorporated into the product, all documentation reflects the current revision, and previous revisions of documents are not used or discarded (process and update paperwork accurately – POM, test reports, etc.).
  • Thoroughly document and communicate non‑conformances, which are critical quality records, and verify required rework to aid problem solving and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate design errors to appropriate front‑end personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework.
  • Serve as an informal trainer for production associates, communicate well with other associates, and build positive relationships that support job objectives and teamwork.
  • Troubleshoot, update, develop test setups and new procedures when current procedures are inaccurate.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing, production, or military experience OR a degree in a technical discipline.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is offered. Only candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of the Eaton El Paso facility will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in a Quality or Inspector position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in switchboard assembly.
  • Computer literate.
  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
  • Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
Position Criteria
  • Candidate must be able to travel outside the continental United States, including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Canada.
Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem‑solving skills. Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality schematics/wiring diagrams and assembly processes on all lines (Hi‑Pot, Shunt Trip).
  • Knowledge of all assembled SWBD product designs (e.g., PRL‑C, PRL‑I, IFS, FDS, MF).
  • Experience in applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, customer‑specific requirements.
