• Fluent in Spanish and English

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program
• Certified by NCCPA or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
• Licensed to practice medicine in Texas (Texas Board of Medical Examiners)
• Maintains good standing as an APP with Texas Medical Board
• Current BLS (ACLS and PALS preferred)
• DEA certification without restriction

• Minimum three (3) years of Nurse Practitioner experience in a family practice setting
• Prior RN experience preferred
• Experience with pediatric and adult populations, including physical assessments

• Practice medicine within scope of license, training, credentialing, and current standards of care
• Meet federal and state regulatory guidelines
• See patients in shelter medical unit permanently, potentially extended, weekend and holiday hours
• Provide medical services within scope of licensing, training, credentialing
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for age groups, using growth and development principles
• Conduct medical examinations and immunizations according to contract guidelines
• Communicate appropriately with patients regardless of age
• Complete charting and required paperwork promptly per guidelines
• Round on nurse calls to other office locations as needed and directed
• Participate in development/review of office policies and support RN manager duties
• Support EMD as needed when on call or during office hours
• Promote a safety-conscious workplace and maintain good housekeeping practices
• Abide by all appropriate policies and procedures, emphasizing strict adherence to ethical codes
• Perform in dynamic, fast-paced, stressful environments associated with disaster response situations
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

• Clear understanding of Compass Connections, FEMA, state protocols for illness, injury, medication administration, emergencies
• Clear communication skills with clinic staff, command staff, and physicians
• Establish health care plans for service population using best practice provider guidelines
• Accurate documentation in agency policies and procedures, contract and regulatory requirements, program timeline requirements
• Review, write, and update medical protocols and procedures in collaboration with Medical Services Division and Compass Connections Division Professional Management Team
• Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program and federal partners
• Effective written and verbal communication in Spanish and English

• Pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment
• Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
• Pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks
• Respond sensitively and competently to service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics
• Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, professionals, and children
• Work in fast-paced environment while maintaining control and professional composure and making decisions based on needs of program and service population
• Maintain computer literacy required to meet responsibilities
• Work effectively without intensive supervision both independently and as member of multidisciplinary team
• Complete and sign Operations Policy and Procedure review and certification
• Provide current physical-medical release and proof of immunizations, titers, or declinations for MMR, Varicella, HepB, HepA, Tetanus, PPD, Meningococcal (preferred)
• Physical activity: extensive walking, lifting of patients, stretching, bending
• Work in team environment
• Professional people skills: oral, written, listening, non-verbal communication skills
