USPI Paso Del Norte is seeking a motivated Pre Op PACU Charge Nurse to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms and 1 Treatment room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Anesthesia, ENT, General, GI, Ortho, OB/GYN, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.
- Supervises the Preop/PACU staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
- Prepares monthly schedules.
- Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly staff meetings.
- Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
- Assists with education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
- Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
- Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments.
- Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
- Preparing and administering annual evaluations.
- Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting Preop/PACU staff members.
- Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to Preop/PACU functions.
- Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys.
- Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE.
- MIDAS data entry.
- Enters data into Kronos time keeping program.
- Assistance with staff counseling as necessary.
- Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Nursing License
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
- Minimum One year nursing leadership experience
- Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in Pre-Op/PACU
- Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
- Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
- Excellent teaching skills
- Basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
