Location:
El Paso, TX | Salary: $46,211.15 - $68,392.50
The QC Inspector I&E will collaborate with management to develop project requirements for selecting appropriate procedures and techniques for quality control in the I&E segment of the project. Responsibilities include performing pre-installation inspections of materials, wire sizing, routing, tubing, fittings, raceway, supports, and ties storage to ensure compliance with project specifications, governing codes, and manufacturer recommendations. Inspection activities are documented on the correct forms, checklists, or media approved by the project’s ITP or SOP.
Responsibilities- Execute inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities on site.
- Issue relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, write and send non-conformance reports to the QC Supervisor.
- Check cable laying and identification.
- Perform punch-listing operations.
- Inspect power transformers, switchboard, accumulator battery, sockets/outlet, and lighting system.
- Conduct visual inspections, dimensional tests, and checks of rating and material for connections.
- Witness continuity and insulation resistance tests.
- Verify installation of instruments.
- Perform functional tests on instruments.
- Inspect fiber optic cable.
- Test communication functionalities.
- Verify special processes and worker qualifications.
- Witness tests, controls, and inspections carried out.
- Ensure conformity with the Quality Control Plan, obtain relevant documentation, and verify procedures and equipment used for tests, controls, and inspections.
- Previous construction experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Previous exposure to high-voltage electrical installation including switch gear and electric drives.
- Experience with hazardous area installations.
- Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.
- Instrument calibration experience (ultrasonic flow meter, level/temperature/pressure transmitters, etc.).
- Working knowledge of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA codes and standards related to electrical and instrumentation work.
- Knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice, and regulations/legislation related to electrical and instrumentation work.
- Good manual dexterity and aptitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with MS Project, Outlook, Bluebeam, etc.
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Team player; can work with others.
- Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
The position involves working in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot to cool/cold, occasional rain, different elevations, and sometimes in close, confined spaces for extended periods. Noise levels can be moderate to high.
