Male Detention Officers (Unarmed) to work Supporting the Male Dorm and overseeing primarily Male Detainees in El Paso, Texas at a Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.
Hourly Rate: $30.00/hour plus $5.09 H&W
$2,500 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates with a current DHS ICE Clearance and 1 year of detention experience for qualified candidates who have applied after November 9, 2025 only.
Responsibilities- Detention Officers are responsible for the direct supervision and daily management of primarily Male high‑risk criminal aliens (referred to as detainees) being held in ICE custody.
- Detention Officers may be assigned to operate male housing units with up to 72 criminal aliens. Other assignments include escorting detainees to various areas of the facility, e.g. recreation, medical, visitation, court hearings; providing security rover services to respond to officers in need of assistance; providing surveillance and supervision of recreation and other activities.
- Duties include conducting security checks, maintaining accurate counts of detainees, enforcing detainees to follow facility rules and regulations, documenting activities, reporting incidents, and facilitating access to meals, recreation, visitation, medical care, and other approved services.
- Keep track of and inspect all authorized issued equipment, ensure items are in proper working condition, including verifying that the communication radio is functional and fully charged.
- Monitor alien behavior to detect and deter potential disruptions, misconduct, or unauthorized activity.
- Detention Officers conduct irregular security patrols observing signs of climate tension or conflict, facility security vulnerabilities, and detainee medical distress. Work duties and tasks are performed in accordance with company policies, ICE standards, and applicable contractual requirements.
- Providing verbal guidance or counseling to aliens regarding facility rules, procedures, or expectations for conduct.
- Makes official, accurate, and legible entries in assigned post logbooks.
- Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security protocols.
- The Detention Officer receives training in De‑Escalation Techniques, Defensive Tactics, Restraints, and Use of Force to control and manage difficult populations.
- Reports for duty on time, in full issued uniform, and compliant with the dress code.
- Follows all company safety policies, including incident reporting, monitoring, and adherence to safety practices.
- Follows company‑wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in company safety policies.
- Conducts security and sanitation checks of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer and throughout the shift.
- Successfully completes all assigned training including defensive tactics and other curriculum requiring demanding physical stamina.
- Must be able to meet all health requirements.
- Must be U.S. citizen.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum 1 year experience in security, law enforcement or military is preferred but not required.
- Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check.
- Obtain and maintain a DHS ICE government clearance.
- Pass all pre‑employment and random drug tests.
- Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid state driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a state security guard license.
- Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the general public.
- Read, write, speak fluent English.
- Proficient at observation, memory of events, and ability to recall events to document in written reports.
