Carpenter – Sundt Construction
This role involves planning, laying out, and performing all types of carpentry work in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work may be requested in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills under project supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in trade mathematics.
- Inspect subordinates’ work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take corrective action.
- Seek opportunities for improvement in tasks, methods, and processes, and share knowledge and teach others.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
- Produce high‑quality work safely and productively at all times.
- Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience (Level I), two years (Level II), three years (Level III), and four years (Senior) in the industrial/commercial construction industry and an in‑depth understanding of the carpentry trade.
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
- May use telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices occasionally to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
- Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Must move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects frequently.
- Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Will lift, push or pull objects up to 500 lbs occasionally.
- Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
