, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Part-Time Shelter Monitor for the El Paso Corps located in El Paso, Texas.

• Assist residents staying in the shelter.
• Perform client intake procedures and prepare client intake records.
• Monitor the activity of residents on an assigned shift to ensure safety, security, and compliance with house rules.
• Ensure that the facility is maintained in neat and proper order.
• Assist during feeding times.

• Knowledge of effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records.
• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of basic record keeping practices and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients to control, lead, and motivate behavior.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of people and remain sensitive to their concerns.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
• Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of prior experience in security or social services work in a shelter or similar environment preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English effectively. Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating proper corrective action. Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis. Travel is usually within the same building. Limited physical effort required for walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (up to 25 lbs.)

occasionally. Work is performed in a residential facility with generally minimal discomfort from weather or environmental factors, though shelter conditions may vary.

Schedule: Friday to Sunday from 4 pm to 12 am and Thursday 4 pm to 9 pm;
Friday to Sunday from 12 am to 8 am and Monday 4 pm to 9 pm.

Pay: $12.01 per hour.
