Summary
Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking a Safety Health & Environmental Manager. This position is responsible for the implementation of the company’s safety and loss prevention programs, and for ensuring that job‑site employees and subcontractors are trained in all safety programs and protocols, including federal and state regulations, to prevent accidents and injuries.
Essential Functions- Coordinate and facilitate safety training and incentive programs.
- Maintain statistical information on costs and frequency.
- Perform accident investigations and produce written reports.
- Manage safety personnel and consultants.
- Conduct job‑site visits and safety audits as required by project.
- Create project safety start‑up packets – new‑hire packets, federal/state compliance materials, safety and workers compensation information.
- Review and assist superintendents with project‑specific safety plans.
- Provide SDS books and ensure projects have required information on‑site.
- Address and provide resources for environmental and hazardous material issues.
- Track safety training for project personnel.
- Ensure supervisors have up‑to‑date first‑aid cards.
- Maintain the site safety records.
- Oversee the site’s craft/hourly drug testing program.
- Represent the company at safety professional meetings, alliances, and associations.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 5+ years of commercial construction safety experience in a Safety Manager role.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience related to staff and subcontractors.
- Proficiency using a personal computer and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- OSHA 30 required.
- Bachelor of Science in Safety & Environmental Health or a related degree (Construction Management/Engineering).
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential.
- Commercial construction safety experience.
- Local market experience (helpful but not required).
Base compensation is between $105,000 and $130,000.
