Overview
Director, Software Engineering – Millennium Space Systems, a division of The Boeing Company.
This role leads the software engineering team to deliver high‑quality technical work products, schedules and budgets, while advocating for resources to exceed customer expectations.
Position Responsibilities- Communicate technical direction, standards, and decisions across engineering teams.
- Set objectives and KPIs aligned with company goals, measure engineering performance across the organization.
- Oversee program‑level schedules, resource balancing, and staffing plans; manage risk and prioritize critical risks.
- Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration with Quality, Safety, Manufacturing, and Program Management teams to enforce commonality of tools, processes and standards.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, manage interview processes, approve tools/software for efficient use across engineering teams.
- Mentor and conduct performance reviews of direct reports; provide regular 1:1 meetings, formal feedback, and raise requests.
- Support talent development, identify growth paths and sponsor cross‑team initiatives to drive innovation.
- Minimum 14 years of experience as an engineering professional, with functional or project management experience in the aerospace defense industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field focused on software development.
- 7 years of experience in C and C programming.
- 5 years of experience with Linux in an embedded environment and/or bare‑metal C on a microcontroller.
- 5 years of experience serving as a Project Lead, and/or functional manager in spacecraft development.
- Knowledge of satellite systems and components.
- Demonstrated ability in flight software design and test of spacecraft.
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance at post‑start for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.
- Background exhibiting the ability to conduct sense‑making of multifaceted challenges through data.
- 5 years of project management experience.
- 5 years of experience crafting and developing strategy plans.
Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay range:
Level L: $165,750 – $243,750.
