GeneralPurpose
Payment Processing Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate posting of payment related transactions in the servicing system including payment collection, loan payoffs, reinstatements, principal curtailments, charges, etc. They will prepare documentation for booking, reporting, and compliance purposes.
In This Position, You Will- Monitor borrower's compliance with loan documents and process transactions in accordance with loan documents.
- Responsible for handling various types of funds including but not limited to checks, ACH, and wires.
- Process online and phone payments as well as reversals and NSFs.
- Monitor and audit cash flows.
- Create and review reports to monitor loan delinquency, and payment/ interest rate changes.
- Ensure timely posting of transactions including but not limited to regular and delinquent payments, payoffs, reinstatements, fees, charges, advances, principal curtailments, and other funds received as well as cash disbursement of taxes, insurance, etc.
- Set up and monitor ACH and wiring activity.
- Respond to inquiries and work with several internal and external parties regarding pending transactions and transfer of funds.
- Monitor multiple bank activities for incoming and outgoing payments.
- Interact with internal and external parties to resolve escrow overages/shortages, correction of misapplied funds, tax/insurance disbursement issues, etc.
- Support miscellaneous activities, projects, and requests for Loan Servicing.
- This position may involve handling confidential and sensitive information as part of its daily responsibilities. Employees are expected to exercise discretion and protect all sensitive data, including but not limited to personal information, loan details, business and financial records, and proprietary materials.
Successful candidates will possess:
- High school diploma required; associate's degree preferred; or a combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in banking or commercial/consumer loan servicing.
- Proficient with Excel reports, formulas, and analysis.
- Experience with reconciliations, electronic and various other payment processing methods, and basic accounting knowledge.
- Ability to identify processing inefficiencies and collaborate for improvement.
- Proficient in MS Office i.e., Excel, Outlook, Word, and other software programs as needed.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizing between multiple systems and priorities.
- Strong decision-making ability.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Professional and courteous with both internal and external customers.
- Highly detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, and understand procedures.

- Ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot and properly elevate issues.
