Senior Planner NW 53rd Terrace, Miami, FL

Performs professional planning work in connection with the duty to enforce all of the provisions of the Comprehensive Plan, Land Use Regulations and other codes as they relate to land use. This position is classified as an exempt, full-time position with a 40 hour work-week.

• Processes land use, site plan and building permits applications including, but not limited to, the preparation of backup information for cases.
• Provides City Clerk with all pertinent information to enable Clerk to prepare required public hearing notices.
• Conducts studies, collects and analyzes data for use in the City's Comprehensive Plan.
• Reviews development plans for adherence to land use requirements and conducts field inspections of area developments.
• Assists the Planning and Zoning Director in formulating recommendations for amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations for submittal to the City Manager.
• Updates all City land use maps.
• Works with GIS system and performs data analysis.
• Performs zoning inspections.
• Performs any other duties as directed by the Planning and Zoning Director.
• Directs and performs analysis of data and the preparation of various planning documents.
• Participates in field surveys to secure a variety of planning data such as land use population density transportation, housing, and environmental assessment.

• Performs other related work as required.

• A Bachelor's degree in Planning, Public Administration or related field from an accredited college. A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning is desirable.
• Three (3) years of professional planning and/or zoning experience in the public sector.
• A combination of education, training, and similar disciplines will be taken into consideration and may supplement required years of experience.
• Must hold a valid Florida Drivers License.

• Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, or a similar word processing program as well as AutoCAD. Knowledge of GIS and Data Base Management is a plus.
• Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to meet and deal with the public and fellow workers in an effective and courteous manner.
• Must be a non-smoker.
• The minimum requirements may be waived by the City Manager.

• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
