Journeyman Network Operations Technician

A Journeyman Network Operations Technician will provide day‑to‑day operational support for base‑wide network infrastructure, ensuring secure, stable, and high‑performance connectivity. The role is located at Los Angeles SFB, is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X, and requires a DoD Secret clearance (#clearance).

• Observe legacy network behavior and compare it against baseline performance.
• Create and respond to incident tickets, performing network triage per SOPs and knowledge articles.
• Resolve IT hardware and software infrastructure issues (servers, network, security, etc.) using system‑analysis techniques to ensure proper function.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with IT infrastructure, including user systems, servers, storage, and network connectivity.
• Provide system administration for assigned infrastructure and maintain security for users.
• Apply security patches and operating‑system upgrades to maintain security integrity.
• Support new infrastructure projects and maintain configuration documentation.
• Perform system patching and IAVA patches on network routers and switches.
• Perform Cisco or equivalent software upgrades.
• Develop and update configuration templates for switch and router installs; apply those templates.
• Troubleshoot system failures and accessibility problems within the network.
• Monitor network performance and track outages.
• Develop and leverage network TTPs and SOPs to close tickets.
• Provide training on network operations TTPs and SOPs.
• Support engineering design data calls and new/enhanced network implementation, installation, and refresh projects.
• Work independently with limited supervision, performing network ticket resolution.
• Use administrative access to stage new switches, routers, and research incidents and potential problems.
• Route service requests to the appropriate organization for incident resolution.
• Perform root‑cause analyses.

• Education / Certifications: Technical BA/BS Degree (or High School Diploma/Associate Degree); IAT III baseline certification (CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP or Associate, GCED, GCIH); (Preferred) ITIL v3; CCNA;
  Juniper.

  Skills:
  
  Minimum seven years as a Network Operations Technician for large, complex programs/systems in a Network Operations Center, with a High School or Associate Degree; experience supporting DoD projects, especially network modernization projects.
• Clearance Requirement: Active DoD Secret (Tier 3) level clearance.
