Description
The Network Administrator will provide comprehensive network management services at Los Angeles Air Force Base, ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant network operations in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force (AF) standards. This role entails monitoring, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and virtual private networks (VPNs), to support mission-critical communications. The Network Administrator will research, test, and implement network efficiencies such as virtualization, automation, and consolidation to optimize performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Network Monitoring and Incident Management: Monitor network events, track incidents, and conduct root cause analysis in coordination with government personnel to assess mission impact. Record and manage network incidents using the government-provided ticketing system, implementing corrective actions to restore network availability. Perform daily network status checks and provide reports to the 61 CS Operations Flight Chief (SCO) by 0900 each workday.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain up-to-date network topology documentation for NIPRNet and SIPRNet in accordance with the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) Connection Process Guide, ensuring documentation is updated within five workdays of any changes.
- Security Policy Enforcement: Implement and enforce network security policies, ensuring compliance with vulnerability management requirements per Air Force Information Network (AFIN) Vulnerability Management procedures. Track and document compliance with Cyber Tasking Orders (CTO), Cyber Control Orders (CCO), Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNO), and Maintenance Tasking Orders (MTO), reporting compliance to AF and DoD cyber organizations.
- Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct vulnerability assessments of network infrastructure to support reaccreditation efforts and identify potential risks. Report detected vulnerabilities to the Plans and Requirements Flight Chief and the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), coordinating recommended mitigation strategies with AF and DoD cybersecurity offices.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for network-related issues, including troubleshooting connectivity problems, optimizing bandwidth usage, and ensuring high availability of network resources.
- Network Protocols and Tools: Demonstrate expertise in enterprise networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VLAN configurations, along with experience in network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Experience in managing and securing DoD networks, responding to cyber threats, and ensuring network compliance with AF and DoD policies.
- Must have proficiency in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).

Candidates should have a strong understanding of enterprise networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS, as well as experience with firewall configuration, access control lists (ACLs), and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Responsibilities include network monitoring, responding to and documenting network incidents, implementing security patches and updates, and performing regular network performance assessments to ensure high availability and efficiency.
- Assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues, supporting network upgrades, and maintaining accurate network topology documentation in compliance with the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) Connection Process Guide.
- Additional duties include vulnerability management and compliance with Air Force Information Network (AFIN) policies, which involve implementing and tracking Cyber Tasking Orders (CTO), Cyber Control Orders (CCO), and Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNO).
- Support network security assessments, report vulnerabilities, and assist in remediation efforts to enhance network defense.
- Collaboration with government stakeholders and coordination with DoD cyber organizations is essential to maintaining secure and compliant network operations.
