Town of Eaton, Colorado - Public Works Maintenance Technician I
The Town of Eaton is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our Public Works Department as a Public Works Maintenance Technician I. This is an entry-level, full-time, benefitted position responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and operational tasks to support the upkeep of streets, parks, facilities, cemetery, and departmental equipment. Under close supervision from the Public Works Foreman and senior technicians, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and overall functionality of Eaton’s community assets.
Duties include participating in on-call rotations, responding to emergencies, maintaining public areas, supporting facility repairs, operating and servicing equipment, and assisting with water and wastewater operations.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, hands-on team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to public service. You are adaptable, willing to learn, and able to follow verbal and written instructions. You possess basic technical skills in areas such as landscaping, mechanical repairs, and facility maintenance, and can operate a variety of equipment safely. You demonstrate effective communication, maintain a positive attitude under pressure, and promote a culture of safety in all tasks.
Experience in construction, equipment operation, or facility maintenance and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement are highly valued.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Completion of one year of technical school preferred
- One (1) to three (3) years of related experience in construction, equipment operation, or facility maintenance preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to report to work on time and respond to on-call assignments
- Residence within 30 minutes of the facility for on-call duties preferred
- Successful completion of pre-employment screenings: MVR, references, drug screen, physical capabilities exam, and background check
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Basic computer, tablet, and smartphone skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs., work in extreme weather, and operate various tools and equipment
