Senior Software Engineer

Overview

SAIC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team focused on developing the next generation of space communication systems supporting the U.S. Space Force (USSF) satellite communications mission. In this role, you will support Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment, working alongside team members, contractors, government civilians, and USSF personnel. The opportunity is in El Segundo, CA.

You will lead and support multiple working groups responsible for facilitating technical discussions, identifying and mitigating risks, addressing requirement gaps, developing and delivering technical briefings, tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. You will play a critical role in integrating software solutions and ensuring the successful delivery of advanced space communication capabilities.

• Design, engineer, analyze, and develop software prototypes and/or applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Engage with stakeholders to better define the problem space and vision to determine capabilities and priorities.
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle: user story creation, design, development, automated testing, and operational support.
• Create intuitive user interfaces that enable efficient data management and system oversight.
• Design and develop new visualization features to meet evolving end-user requirements.
• Work with complex algorithms to deliver optimized solutions for the end user.
• Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards.
• Drive continuous improvement through process and tooling recommendations.
• Mentor team members by sharing innovative ideas and industry best practices.

• Security Clearance:
  Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for this position.
• Experience and
  
  Education:
  
  BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience. Must have min. 5 years of experience.
• 7 years of software development, including architecture, object-oriented design, coding, and testing.
• Strong experience in one or more of the following:
  Python, Java, or Go.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js.
• Hands-on experience developing web applications with microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with database technologies such as Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL, and others.
• Experience with Docker, AWS and / or Azure, and Kubernetes for containerization, cloud services, and orchestration.
• Proficient in using Git Lab or other Tools for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continually learning and adopting new technologies.
• Organization capability with ability to handle competing priorities.

• 10+ years of software development, including architecture, object-oriented design, coding, and testing.
• Experience working with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular.
• Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence.
• Experience in implementing Agile Software Development methodologies for efficient and iterative project management.
• Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, and Tactical SATCOM or COMSATCOM.
• Experience with space and ground systems, such as satellite communication, ground terminals and DoD networks.

Target salary range: $120,001 – $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
