Heavy Equipment Road Mechanic

HEAVY EQUIPMENT ROAD MECHANIC

M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established successful construction firm located in Eldersburg, MD. We are searching for an experienced, committed, career-minded Heavy Equipment Road Mechanic to be part of our growing team.

• Always ensures a safe work environment for self and others
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Ability to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, diagnostics/defects/malfunctions and determine required repairs on heavy equipment
• Ability to change to fit bearings to adjust, repair or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
• Conducts preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime on all types of equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Follow all safety policies and use of proper PPE

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
• Heavy equipment and/or on-highway truck maintenance M experience or related field preferred

• Must be a minimum of 21 years old
• Must have a CDL Class A/B Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• An emphasis on safety on and off the road
• Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Knowledge of DOT standards and requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Understand and follow directions from supervisors
• Must own good working set of mechanics tools

• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions or shop
• Lift and move up to 75 pounds
• Stand for prolonged amounts of time
• Walk, bend, kneel, and twist
• Willing to work overtime as needed
• Able to work from elevated platforms

• Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
• Salary based on knowledge, experience, and education

• High school diploma or GED is preferred

• 2+ years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic preferred
