Depute Head Teacher
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Depute Head Teacher to join the central Additional Support Needs team, which has recently undergone a review. The role involves creating a new vision for the service and leading outreach teams and support services that assist schools and learners across Moray.
Key responsibilities
- Assist and deputise for the Head Teacher in the conduct of the school's affairs.
- Provide leadership, good management and strategic direction for the team and associated provisions.
- Develop and implement school policy on behaviour management.
- Oversee the management of all staff, including the provision of professional advice and guidance.
- Develop the school curriculum and ensure it meets the needs of all learners.
- Act as adviser to the Parent Council and participate in staff selection and appointments.
- Promote Continuing Professional Development for all staff and ensure annual development reviews.
- Maintain partnerships with parents, other professionals, agencies and schools.
- Manage health and safety within the school premises.
Qualifications & requirements
- Relevant experience in a senior school leadership role.
- Strong leadership, management and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of adapted curriculum delivery for primary and secondary learners.
- Understanding of legal requirements for regulated roles (PVG Scheme).
- Ability to work collaboratively with local authorities, education professionals and community partners.
Additional information
- Relocation package available (£5,400 exclusive of VAT).
- Regulated role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020; successful candidate must join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme prior to offer.
- The role reports directly to the Head Teacher of Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum and works closely with the Principal Educational Psychologist, Virtual Head Teacher for Care Experienced Children and Young People and the Quality Improvement Officer.
