Stoma and Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Advanced Practice team as a Stoma and Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). This 18‑month post has been created to support maternity leave cover while providing a fantastic opportunity for training, development, and progression within a specialist surgical role.
About the RoleThis role is ideal for a nurse with a passion for surgery and colorectal care, who is keen to develop advanced specialist skills within a supportive and forward‑thinking team.
You will:
- Run CNS‑led clinics and provide expert telephone triage
- Support patients across the inpatient pathway, particularly those requiring stoma care
- Deliver holistic, patient‑centred education and support from pre‑operative assessment through to follow‑up
Working closely with the current CNS, you will benefit from a structured period of mentorship and training, preparing you to confidently manage the role independently.
What You’ll Be DoingYou will play a key role in delivering and developing a high‑quality stoma care service, including:
- Providing pre‑ and post‑operative education, stoma site marking, discharge planning, and follow‑up
- Managing your own clinical caseload, including complex patient needs
- Offering independent, evidence‑based advice on stoma appliances and care
- Supporting service improvement, including policy development, audit, and product evaluation
- Contributing to patient support initiatives, including groups, helplines, and education resources
You will be supported by:
- The Lead ANP and Surgical ANP team for clinical development and line management
- A highly experienced Surgical Consultant team
- A collaborative MDT environment focused on safe, high‑quality patient care
