Fire Safety Consultants, Inc. (FSCI) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Building/Life Safety Plans Examiner to join our corporate office team. FSCI is a highly respected third-party building code and fire protection plan review and consulting company, providing services for more than 200 municipalities, fire departments, and companies across the country. All plan review work is performed at our office located in Elgin, IL, and includes some travel to job sites within the state to perform inspections.

Pay Range – Depending On
Qualifications:
- Ø $75,000 to $100,000+ – Commensurate with experience and certifications
- Ø AD&D and Life Insurance
Responsibilities:
- Perform commercial building code (non-structural), fire code, mechanical code, life safety, accessibility, energy, and electrical plan reviews to verify code compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- May be required to perform inspections for such.
- Attain various certifications and participate in continuing education.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with clients and customers.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service, manage multiple priorities, demonstrate attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
- This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
- Ø High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ø Classes in related degree programs preferred.
Experience Preferred:
- Ø The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience performing commercial and/or residential building plans examination.
- Ø ICC certification as a Plan Examiner and/or Inspector required or ability to obtain within 6 months of date of hire.
- Ø Knowledge of ICC or NFPA codes.
- Ø Ability to perform building inspections.
- Ø Construction knowledge or experience.
- Ø Knowledge of Microsoft 365 with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Ability:
- Ø Ability to climb ladders, be raised in lifts to inspect fire protection system equipment located near ceilings, and access low headroom spaces.
- Ø Ability to crawl on hands and knees to access low headroom spaces.
- Ø Ability to walk for long periods of time and to climb multiple flights of stairs.
