We are actively seeking a Project Engineer (Heavy Construction and Building Construction) for immediate openings in our Chicagoland office, with headquarters in Elgin, IL. This Project Engineer position focuses on Heavy Construction (bridge work, infrastructure, plant & process) or Building Construction (school and municipal markets) and is based at either our Elgin, IL corporate office or a project site in NE Illinois.
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing all Project Engineer‑related duties efficiently and effectively, whether the focus is Heavy or Building Construction. A successful Project Engineer is an ambitious individual who aspires to advance within the Company.
Ideal candidate:- Has a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field of study, or has qualifying experience
- Is willing to work in both field and office settings
- Is computer literate and willing to work with multiple project management, estimating, and scheduling software systems
- Is an ambitious individual with the desire to advance within the Company
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Manager and Site Superintendent
- Submittal review and processing
- Request for Information processing
- Requesting Change Order information from subcontractors
- Drawing documentation
- Processing meeting minutes
- Pre‑construction preparation of scopes
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Strong communication skills
- Well organized with acute attention to detail
- Able to adapt to fluctuations in workload as needed
- Good listener, acting in a professional manner
- Eager to learn and responsive to direction and feedback from supervisor
- Team player with a positive attitude and a desire to promote a productive work environment
- Proficient in PM software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, Viewpoint Vista, P6, AutoCAD, and various client‑specific websites and portals
- Lives in the Chicagoland area
