School District U-46 Secondary Teachers work to ensure all U-46 students have access to high quality, culturally and linguistically responsive instruction. They plan lessons aligned to grade level standards; engage students in texts and tasks that require collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking; and provide regular feedback to support growth and proficiency for all students. U-46 Secondary Teachers value ongoing professional learning and seek feedback to continuously improve practice.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives through daily responsibilities.
- Provide students with clarity of instructional purpose and deliver content accurately.
- Create a safe, respectful, supportive, and challenging environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students’ maturity, interests and needs.
- Develop classroom routines and procedures with students to ensure effective management and shared responsibility of the classroom environment.
- Engage students in meaningful learning through well-designed activities, questions, and discussions that invite higher-order thinking and collaboration.
- Provide equitable access to rigorous content for all students.
- Formatively and summatively assess students and provide regular daily feedback as well as formal progress reports.
- Participate in continuous professional learning opportunities with an inquiry-based, growth-focused approach.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve and share practice.
- Adhere to district policies and procedures.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes and/or perform assigned duties at designated locations and times, including in-person, hybrid, asynchronous and/or synchronous instruction.
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
- Maintain professional competence and strive for continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Appropriate Educator License (PEL, ELS-CTE) with required endorsement(s).
- Experience working with students in a school setting is preferred. Demonstrate willingness to work in a collaborative, student-centered, results-driven team.
- Strong knowledge of fundamental principles of teaching and learning.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Professionalism in time management, working with stakeholders, and engaging in continuous learning.
- Occasionally require physical exertion to move, lift/carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
- Prolonged sitting or standing may be required.
- Stooping, bending, reaching, and working at a student’s level when necessary.
- Must work indoors and outdoors.
- This is a 10-month position (184 days). Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
