Work Schedule:

Hours vary and may include day, evening and weekend responsibilities. Courses are taught in a classroom setting and may include a lab component. Please indicate your availability in your cover letter.

Rate of Pay:

This is a Part-Time Adjunct Faculty position with the following pay rate per contact hour:

Less than MA: $1,069 MA or Above: $1,109

The offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

Adjunct teaching faculty provide instruction aligned with the college's strategic goals and evaluate students' progress to facilitate achievement of their educational goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice or related field is required.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience teaching in a higher education/community college setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats
  • Strong knowledge of criminology, policing, courts, corrections, juvenile justice, and related areas.
  • Knowledge of current trends in criminal justice education, including contemporary challenges in policing, corrections, forensics, cybersecurity, homeland security, and restorative justice.
  • Experience in developing discipline specific curriculum and/or professional development training.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., D2L) and instructional technology.
  • Essential Duties:

    Deliver Instruction

    1. Conduct assigned classes and/or labs

    2. Prepare lessons

    3. Provide course syllabus (which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavioral expectations, course outline and contact information)

    4. Verify student enrollment and submit grade sheets

    If a lab is involved:

    5. Prepare labs

    6. Enforce lab safety procedures

    Evaluate Student Progress

    1. Keep accurate record of student performance

    2. Provide students with timely feedback

    Provide Student Assistance

    1. Maintain office hours and voice-mail/e-mail communication

    2. Refer students to student support services

    3. Accommodate special needs students

    Other Duties:
