Assistant Teacher (Part‑Time) – Ideal for Retired Teachers & Experienced Educators

The Goddard School® located at 2496 Bushwood Drive Elgin, IL 60124 is seeking a dedicated, nurturing Part‑Time Assistant Teacher to join our team. This role is an excellent fit for retired teachers, former principals, and seasoned educators who want to stay connected to early childhood education in a flexible, supportive environment.

At our School, we put our teachers first because they put our students first. You’ll work alongside a Lead Teacher to support classroom learning, guide young children’s development, and help maintain a warm, safe, and engaging environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • Foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through positive interactions
  • Help prepare classroom materials and maintain a clean, organized learning environment
  • Provide individualized attention and help children feel secure, confident, and supported
  • Assist with daily communication to families about classroom activities and child progress
  • Follow all health, safety, and licensing guidelines
  • Support daily routines such as transitions, playtime, and care tasks
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; degree in Education or related field strongly preferred
  • Prior teaching or school leadership experience highly valued
  • Warm, patient, and compassionate approach with young children
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Understanding of child development and classroom management
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when needed
  • Must pass required state background checks and meet licensing requirements
