Position OverviewAs Cost Accounting Manager
, you are a key financial leader responsible for providing visibility into operational costs, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving cost optimization initiatives. You own product costing, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams. The role blends hands‑on execution with strategic analysis in a dynamic production environment.
- Own and ensure the accuracy of product standard costs and COGS
- Analyze cost variances including material usage, labor, overhead, and purchase price variances
- Prepare margin and profitability analysis versus budget and forecast
- Lead scrap reporting and collaborate with operations on root‑cause analysis and cost‑reduction initiatives
- Perform detailed inventory analysis, including excess and obsolete reserves
- Maintain and audit Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and work center data to ensure accurate cost allocation
- Support product cost reviews and standard cost updates
- Develop labor efficiency, productivity, and operational performance metrics
- Partner with plant and operations leadership to identify and implement cost and process improvements
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost roll‑ups
- Serve as the cost accounting subject matter expert for ERP systems and cost‑related reporting
- Lead physical inventory counts and oversee cycle count programs
- Provide actionable cost insights to senior leadership to support strategic planning and investment decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or operations‑focused environment
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with business intelligence or reporting tools is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP, standard costing, inventory valuation, and overhead absorption
- Ability to partner cross‑functionally and communicate financial insights effectively
- Base Salary Range: $120,000 – $135,000 annually
