Function / Position Summary
To work with parents, students, and staff to prevent, identify, evaluate, and remediate a wide range of oral communication problems, including articulation, voice, fluency, and language disorders.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Provide prevention services through consultation, in-service training, and communication with parents and parent groups.
- Identify students through pre-referral processes, screenings, and referrals for evaluation.
- Assess students using standardized or non-standardized measures, interpret results, write reports, share findings with stakeholders, determine eligibility, and develop IEPs.
- Manage caseload, provide direct remediation, collaborate with teachers, develop goals, document progress, and hold review meetings.
- Complete caseload records for funding purposes.
- Maintain student IEPs and evaluations using web-based software.
- Work collaboratively within a team setting.
Education
- Illinois Certificate with Speech and Language Pathology endorsement (Type 73, Type 10, or Type 03/09).
- Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Speech Language Pathologist License.
- Master’s degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology.
Environmental Conditions
- Work in noisy and crowded environments, indoors or outdoors.
- Fast-paced work with potential interruptions.
- Occasional travel to meetings outside the main site.
- Public contact requiring professional attire.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasional lifting or moving heavy objects.
- Stooping, bending, reaching as needed.
