Base pay range

$40.30/hr - $60.45/hr

Responsibilities
  • Interprets physician referrals and completes musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and/or integumentary evaluations using appropriate methods.
  • Establishes a plan of care and implements individualized treatment based on evaluation results and functional goals, adjusting the plan appropriately.
  • Plans for and completes patient discharge, including written home programs, patient/family teaching, referrals for community services, transition planning, and equipment ordering.
  • Completes all required documentation per department policy and accreditation standards, including patient evaluations, progress notes, team conference reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Maintains site/department productivity standards, applies insurance guidelines for authorization and number of visits, and ensures compliance with billing and documentation policies.
  • Performs cleaning tasks after patient treatment, organizes equipment, and ensures a neat and orderly area.
  • Executes manual positioning, transferring, and transporting duties that require lifting and using proper techniques.
  • Demonstrates skill in modalities, exercise equipment, and other devices; adheres to indications and contraindications of modalities.
  • Promotes patient safety, participates in safety initiatives, and follows infection control measures.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and manages assigned caseload while informing leadership of coverage needs.
  • Pursues professional growth through continuing education, department in‑services, and literature.
  • Orients new staff to clinical and department policies and provides feedback during coworker evaluation processes.
  • May supervise physical therapy assistants, extenders, and students, delegating patients, providing direction, and maintaining responsibility for patient plans of care.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Education: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation; maintains continuing education requirements per state standards.
  • Certification / Registration / License: Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of work;
    Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers obtained within 90 days unless otherwise determined.
  • Work Experience: No experience required.
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
    • Intermediate computer skills.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
    • Demonstrated organization, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
    • Successful completion of competency assessments per site standards.
    • Year‑long educational maintenance of hospital‑based certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF).
    • Knowledge of growth and development principles and assessment across the lifespan.


  • Physical Requirements And

    Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday.
    • Must lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; 10 lbs. from waist to overhead; carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height.
    • Must push/pull with 30 lbs. of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
    • Repetitive hand use: simple grasping (5–15 lbs., 20% of workday), pushing/pulling (up to 75–100 lbs., 10% of day), fine manipulation during massage and joint mobilization.
    • Functional use of senses required for communication.
    • Exposure to electrical and chemical hazards, blood and body fluids; protective clothing required.
    • May require travel, exposing to road and weather hazards.
    • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
